This policy explains what information the Gamepad Checker website (gamepadchecker.app) and the Gamepad Checker Android app handle. It is written to be read, not to be waded through.
Short version: we never ask for your name, your email or an account, and we never sell anything about you. Controller tests run entirely on your own device and are never uploaded. The Android app shows ads supplied by Google AdMob and uses Google Firebase to count installs and manage app settings; both collect some data of their own, and that part is described below.
The gamepad test on this site runs completely inside your browser using the standard Gamepad API. Button presses, stick positions, trigger values and drift measurements are processed locally and are never uploaded anywhere. Nothing is recorded and nothing is stored between visits.
We do not use cookies, analytics, tracking pixels, fingerprinting or advertising on this website. We do not operate accounts and there is nothing to sign up for.
Our hosting provider automatically logs standard technical request data — such as IP address, browser user agent and the time of a request — for security and reliability purposes. This is normal server operation, we do not use those logs to identify or profile anyone, and we do not combine them with any other information.
The app reads input from controllers you connect over USB OTG or Bluetooth so it can show you which buttons, sticks, triggers and motors are working. That input is used only to draw the live test screen on your device. It is not recorded, not stored and not transmitted.

The app requests only the permissions it needs to detect and communicate with connected controllers, plus internet access for the advertising described below.
The Android app displays advertisements through Google AdMob. To serve and measure those ads, Google may collect and process certain information, including a device advertising identifier, general device and app information, and approximate location derived from an IP address. We do not receive this information ourselves, and we never pass any data about you to Google.
Google's handling of that data is governed by its own policies. You can read how Google uses information from apps that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and you can reset or delete your advertising identifier, or opt out of ad personalisation entirely, in your Android device settings under Settings → Privacy → Ads.
The Android app includes two Google Firebase services. Firebase Analytics records basic usage events that Google collects automatically — app opens, session length, app version, device model, country and language — so we can see how many people install the app and whether it is working. It also uses the Google Play install referrer to tell us which listing an install came from. Firebase Remote Config fetches a small settings file that lets us change things like whether ads are shown, without publishing an app update.
Both services identify your installation with a randomly generated app instance ID. That ID is not your name, not an account, and not your device's advertising identifier, and it is discarded if you clear the app's data or uninstall it. Neither service ever receives your controller input or your test results. We read this data only in aggregate — we have no way to look up an individual person and no interest in doing so.
If you use the app in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, a consent form appears before the app requests its first ad. It is presented through Google's User Messaging Platform and lists the advertising partners involved. No advertising identifier is read and no personalised ad is requested until you have answered it.
You can change or withdraw your answer at any time from Settings → Ad privacy options inside the app. Withdrawing consent does not disable any part of the controller test — every button, stick, trigger and rumble feature works exactly the same either way.
Gamepad Checker is a general-audience hardware diagnostic tool. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will act on it.
Because we do not collect personal information, we hold nothing to retain, export or delete on request. If you want the advertising data associated with your device removed, reset your advertising identifier in Android settings as described above.
If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted on this page with a new date at the top. Material changes affecting how data is handled will be reflected in an app update.
